Chag Sameach!

Hello again, today was a very relaxing day.
We had a guided writing meditation, chose our rooms for Boneh (living on a kibbutz for 3 months), spent a lot of time at the pool and faced our fears at night. We were then placed in a room where we met our roomies!!!
Tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah starts so I will not be updating until the 11th. I hope you all have a sweet year!

September 6th

We had a lot of puelot today including one about consumerism and the economy.
Another about Martin Buber and talking to people, people are perceived as…
Our last puela of the night was about drinking and smoking, choosing your own adventure type thing.
Tonight we’re having a silent rave (everyone listens to their own ipod and dances with each other) I’m hoping I come back sweaty and ringning ears.
Have a good night.

Moving on out...

We over stayed our welcome and had to leave, just kidding. It was time to pack up and move onto the next hostel. We hopped on a bus and took a 2 hour ride to Jerusalem. In Jerusalem we had a tour of the old city, went to the western wall and put a personal prayer inside.
After the tour and a bagel lunch we got back on the bus and headed to the “Israel museum”. In the museum we viewed Dead Sea scrolls, sculptures and an “angels/demons” exhibit. After the viewing we hopped back on the bus and drove to Neve Shalom, our new hostel for the next few days. After being picking rooms it was time for some more kvutza bonding. We had to complete 10 tasks in an hour, tasks which included making a dance with the whole group involved. At midnight we celebrated a birthday and it’s off to bed.

Goodnight readers.

Relax and try to adjust

sunny 87 °F

Well, I’ve finally adjusted to the time zone, 10 hours ahead  It’s been a relaxing Saturday morning and we’ve a had chill puelots. One about Zionism and what we want as a kvutza. We played an “Israel” board game and Leon ( workshop director) came in to lecture us on rules for the year. That took a few hours, dinner and then by sunset we celebrated havdallah (ending Shabbat).
We recapped our week by laying down on the ground looking at the night sky and listened to two songs “ funny the way it is”- Dave Matthews. “Hopippola”- Siguar Ros. This week has abeen overwhelming but it was a good one.

-Cheers

Shabbat Shalom!

95 °F

It was a long full day and night of flying it's hard to adjust to the time difference but we crawl out of bed at 8am for our first Israeli breakfast. Heading out to the heat of the day and it's already about 95 f, Our first adventure in Israel was a scavenger hunt in Tiberias (close to the kinnert in the North). We had to split into teams and complete tasks. Did you know the water level of the kinnert 2.16 when it used be 13, its lost a lot of water!. After we shared what we found in the dirty city of tiberias we came back to Beit Sha’an for a tasteless lunch and then an amazing swim in the pool. After a few hours of relaxation we came to the classroom and had a puela (educational activity) on Israeli culture and we made blindfolded hummus! It was then time our first Shabbat!! All 27 of us got in our best dress and headed down to do blessings and eat together as a “family”. After a nice Shabbat dinner we all changed and sat around in the hall of the hostel and sat around talking and singing songs.

Have a good weekend and Shabbat Shalom.
